Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
Ideological, culturally hegemonic male dominance.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
Difficult to answer. In the most literal sense, my father was physically and emotionally abusive. My feminist mother eventually succumbed to alcoholism. My girlfriend doesn’t believe in herself.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
Undoubtedly. Although to specify would be reductive.
How would you define masculinity?
To answer idealistically – positive expressions of male Identity. Strength in the service of compassion.

Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
when your appearance / behaviour does not conform to peoples’ expectations, they often use it as a stick to beat you with. Women as a much agents of patriarchy as men, unfortunately.

I’m practically a feminist, but openly supporting a seemingly antagonistic cause damages it and my own efforts improve gender equality. Note that I do not agree that equal means the same. We do not want to erase the differences that make life so rich. See debates about race and culture for context.
