Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
It’s a word to reframe something that is largely informal as a functioning and explicit system of governance. To help people understand better the impacts of those informal power structures.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
It depends on your perspective. You could argue that we’re all held back by a system that doesn’t get the most from everybody. As an individual however – if I have done better than I otherwise would on my own sketchy merits – I might have personally benefited. I mean – what makes you happier ? Standing on top of a turd heap or sitting towards the bottom of a cloud?
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
Through my own personal actions? I’m not sure I have that much agency.
How would you define masculinity?
I’m comfortable with a traditional definition of masculinity & femininity as long as they are not framed negatively. I just think people should not feel bound by those definitions. We are all desperate to find out who we are and way markers are important – they just shouldn’t be taken too seriously or literally.
Does misandry exist?
How can it not? Some women don’t like men. It just isn’t that great a problem nor as prevalent as some rather precious men seem to think.
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
Only in a way that has advantaged me
What best describes you?
