Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
The perception – rightly, in my opinion – that despite much legislation and social movement in the employment and other spheres, the remains a paternalistic approach to advancing male candidates over female, despite equal qualification and experience.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
Possibly the opportunity cost where I might have been able to hire a female candidate but they don’t apply because my field has historically been male dominated.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
By application of reverse discrimination – I have hired people before based on gender (female) rather than male to endeavour to do my part in overturning patriarchy.
How would you define masculinity?
Biologically. Might be a cop out but seems to be the most obvious answer.
