Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
A system which promotes men over women and disadvantages those with feminine traits/interests.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
Regularly suffer bouts of depression, exacerbated by my ‘man up and get over it’ attitude I’ve got from years of being told that men are strong silent types.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
I can’t think of anything specific that I’m aware of – I’m sure there’s something though!
How would you define masculinity?
Physical strength, tendency to practical skills, dislike of talking about emotions.
Does misandry exist?
But it’s negligible – there’s definitely plenty of misogyny, stands to reason there are people out there who hate men and act accordingly. Not the biggest problem the world faces, however…
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
Mostly it has advantaged me, but as a man who tends to the feminine side there have been numerous occasions I’ve been put in certain situations BECAUSE I’m a man.
