Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
Patriarchy is the conspiracy theory that the world is run by a bunch of rich, old white men.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
It’s a conspiracy theory, and therefore does not exist, but the idea of it has hurt me as a young white male because enough people believe that they say I should be discriminated against for the simple crime of being born white and male.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
It only exists in the minds of crazy people, but they’ve probably been hurt by the fact I exist.
How would you define masculinity?
Masculinity is the constant need to improve oneself, and share said improvement with the world, to help the world improve. It is the need for discovery, innovation, and finding new ways to do old tasks. Without masculinity, we would still be living like beasts, by the rules of nature, the strong survive, the weak are killed. Masculinity is the willingness to sacrifice the self for the good of the community, the very disposability of males (in wars, working the dangerous jobs, ect..) throughout the ages provides stark evidence that the ‘patriarchy’ if such a thing does exist, does not exist for the benefit of men, but rather women. And that is masculinity in a nutshell. Providing for ones family and community, and helping others for the benefit of the community as a whole.
