Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
Men running society, the economy etc for the benefit of men.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
I don’t believe there is a patriarchy. I think the real issue is class / capital. The rich run the world for their benefit and propagating a divide between working men and working women, by pretending that there is a patriarchy helps them. Think about this: most of us are married or partnered to someone of the opposite sex, and will have a family that is not single gendered. It is not in our interests to subjugate one gender. But how many of us have a relationship that transcends class / capital boundaries? Few, so propagating the advantages of our class does make sense.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
How would you define masculinity?
Having broad shoulders in the metaphorical sense. Being able to look after your family. It’s not something I particularly think about though.
Does misandry exist?
The most upsetting and disturbing form is that which suggests that any attempt to stick up for men is in itself a form of misogyny.
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
What best describes you?
