Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
A male-dominated social/historical control system, used to maintain a ‘traditional’ status-quo.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
I don’t think it has, really. Other than the fact it is saddening that it still exists.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
I haven’t. I like to judge individuals by merit and not gender.
How would you define masculinity?
I’m not sure. I feel masculinity is in a current state of flux and somewhat lacking identity at this moment in time. I would not define it as muscle-flexing, chest-beating, sexist, expectant, demanding, cockfighting, however.
Does misandry exist?
I feel there’s a post-post-feminist ideal that has harnessed all that is wrong with misogyny and reflected that towards men. Two wrongs don’t make a right, and this kind of stance may well fuel male hatred towards women.
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
