Stereotypes of gender roles dictate what men and women should do and behave like
How has patriarchy hurt you?
As a gay man, I’m constantly thinking about what is expected of me as a man, and find myself battling it often. I always compare myself to straight men. I’m not free.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
I tend to underestimate people (generally women) who don’t show the stereotypical behaviour of power; e.g. being shy, being softspoken etc.
How would you define masculinity?
I think about this all the time, and still don’t have an answer. “It’s what I’m sexually atrracted to” is the only definition I can come up with, but that’s not very helpful I gather
Does misandry exist?
Narrative diminishing the male gender, may they exist or not, stem from the same problem, namely patriarchy/sexism. It’ not something else.
