Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
the current paradigm of a world designed by men, operating for the ultimate benefit of men, even if men don’t even realise they are perpetuating it. Unconscious or conscious global misogyny.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
it has hurt my relationships with women and left me feeling isolate and alone
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
I have treated women as lesser beings, even though I have not always been conscious of my actions. I have not had respect for women qualities and powers.
How would you define masculinity?
Lover. Warrior. Magician. King. (Balls, Feet, Guts, Heart)
Does misandry exist?
I don’t know what misandry is!
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
Only in a way that has advantaged me
I think the world of work, particularly large corporations, still favours men – like I say, I don’t think a lot of it’s conscious – it’s like the world is asleep to the patriarchal system
What best describes you?
I quite like the HeForShe thing… it’s difficult not to come across like a nob though
