Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
The over-arching social structure that continues, promotes, and enforces the supremacy of masculinity in all areas of public and private life.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
As a gay man, the patriarchy has scrupulously tried to disenfranchise me from society by weakening my sense of self and self-worth, a weakening that in many people leads to suicide.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
Yes, I have, by internalizing bullying as a legitimate way to conduct inter-personal relationships, and by internalizing misogyny that made me think less of women that did not conform to their gender, and of gay men like myself.
How would you define masculinity?
I am sorry, I’d like to accomplish something for the rest of 2015 rather than just answering this.
Does misandry exist?
Not as a counterpart to misogyny, since misogyny has systematic support by the patriarchy, and misandry does not. It may exist as a concept, but it is not equivalent.
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
