Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
The cultural aversion to women in positions of power and influence, and subsequently, the devaluation of anything deemed unmasculine.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
It pressured me into being a person I despised because that was what masculinity demanded of me.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
Emotionally abused my ex-wife, due to a patriarchally-induced sense of entitlement to make her suffer for percieved injustices.
How would you define masculinity?
Based on my experience of having been a terrible person in the course of trying to live up to a defined standard of masculinity, I no longer define it. If someone elects to self-identify as male, they’re male. End of story.
Does misandry exist?
I’m sure there are people whose thoughts about men mirror misogyny, but I’ve yet to encounter any.
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
I have experienced a great deal of advantage due to my assigned gender, but I have also faced prejudice for not meeting others’ expectations of masculinity.
