Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
Patriarchy is a social hierarchy that puts men first.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
I am a middle-class white male, so I have benefitted from partriarchy – probably even when I wasn’t aware of it. If I have been hurt is has been through losing the benefits of women having parity in social (and political) decision-making.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
I do not intend to hurt people but I make assumptions based on the prevailing views, that I am right, or that my voice should be heard – possibly at the expense of others.
How would you define masculinity?
Masculinity is a social contruction that encodes the rules of being a “man”.
Does misandry exist?
I don’t know what misandry is!
I googled it and can say that I’ve hated many men for their prejudices, but I’ve never hated all men as group – that would be applying a category error to righteous anger.
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
What best describes you?
