Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
An oppressive global social system that gives advantage to men over women.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
It hasn’t, other than indirectly in the way that it hurts and continues to hurt the women around me.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
As a younger man, there will have been instances when I expected women to act, behave and look in a certain way that was almost certainly influenced by patriarchal ideas on what women should be.
How would you define masculinity?
A kind of ‘ideal’ for men to live up to. A set of expectations or essential characteristics that men have enforced on each other and that they endeavour to replicate lest they be deemed unmanly.
Does misandry exist?
Fighting or resisting patriarchy does not mean hating men. Even though hating men seems totally reasonable sometimes. I don’t know.
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
Only in a way that has advantaged me
I’m a man so my gender has never disadvantaged me.
What best describes you?
