Does patriarchy exist?
How would you define patriarchy?
A world where most of the standards, laws, rules, philosophies, mores, and norms are set by or for men.
How has patriarchy hurt you?
For much of my life it colored my ideas of what “being a man” were. To “act like a man” usually meant some sort of denial of self, or insensitivity to others. It’s taken years for me to shed the layers of BS that was heaped upon me.
How have you hurt people in a way influenced by patriachy?
in younger years I was a bit of a ‘conquester’ of women. I did not see them as entire whole beings, or at least did not acknowledge it. I was sexist, insensitive and objectifying. i.e., I was an ass.
How would you define masculinity?
The male sense of self. Embracing both the differences and similarities we have with woman, and being comfortable with it.
Does misandry exist?
It would take a very balanced person to be able to compartmentalize a violation, abuse, or mistreatment by a man and not harbor some degree of misandry.
Have you experienced gender and/or sex related prejudice?
What best describes you?
